Kamel Boutros, born in Egypt, graduated from the Curtis Institute

with a MA degree in Opera performance.

Performed with pianist Martha Argerich in Europe and Japan. At

the Edinburgh Festival sang Mamoud in Death of Klinghoffer. At the

Metropolitan Opera sang in Carmen, Capriccio, Il Barbiere di Siviglia,

Madame Butterfly, La Boheme and Roméo et Juliette, as well as in a gala

concert with the late Luciano Pavarotti conducted by James Levine.

First Prize winner; Opera Index’s Competition and the Sullivan

Foundation Career Award.

Lead roles as an actor included Mohammed Atta in Hamburg Cell

(HBO & DVD release), Mamoud in the film The Death of Klinghoffer,

Superin While the widow is away, Taxi Driver in City for the Daniel

Pearl Foundation. Recently appearing in Law and Order, and in

Adam Reid’s award winning film Hello Lonesome. Kamel’s recent

music arrangement of God be with you till we meet again was used in the

show Damages.

Kamel added John Adams’ Wound-dresser to his solo repertoire and

performed it with conductor Miriam Burns with the Kenosha and

Tallahassee Symphony Orchestras, ss well as Bach’s St. Matthew

Passion with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra in Virginia with

conductor Mark Russell Smith.

In June 2010 Kamel played the part of Papin and also music directs

the play Babette’s Feast in NYC, directed by Quinton Gordon. In

December 2010 Kamel sang a gala concert with pianist Martha

Argerich in Italy.

Presently Kamel is the music director of The Parish of Calvary-St.

George’s Church and Concert Series in New York City, and

continues his work in acting, singing, and as a pianist in chamber

music concerts.
